Información Biográfica: la primera experiencia musical de Stefan se remonta a 1987 cuando tocaba la batería en la orquesta de su escuela. Pero no tardó en sentirse atraído por los profundos sonidos del bajo y en comprarse un Fender Precision, como el que tocaba Steve Harris de Iron Maiden, ya que en sus años de adolescencia pasó algún tiempo escuchando grupos de heavy metal.
Tras los años en Luxemburgo regresó a Suecia para continuar el instituto hasta que, siguiendo a sus padres, se trasladó a Londres y comenzó a estudiar guitarra en el Musicians Institute en el East End londinense. Fue en una estación de metro de aquella ciudad donde se encontró con un chico que había ido a la misma escuela que él en Luxemburgo, Brian Molko. De este encuentro casual, que bien podría haber quedado en anécdota, surgió una estrecha amistad que les llevó a formar Ashtray Heart: la semilla que se convertiría, al poco tiempo, en Placebo. Además de Placebo, Stefan Olsdal también participa en Hotel Persona, un proyecto polifacético llevado a cabo por Stefan Olsdal, David Amen y Javier Solo.

Bio info: Stefan first musical experience was in 1987 when he used to play the drums for his school orchestra. But he wasn’t long in feeling attracted by the deeply sound of the bass. So he bought a Fender Precision because of Iron Maiden‘s Steve Harris as he used to listening to that kind of music in his teens.
After those years in Luxembourg he came back to a school in Sweden until, following his parents, he moved to London and started to study guitar at the Musicians Institute in the East End. It was in a tube station of that city where Stefan met a boy who had gone to the same school that him in Luxembourg, Brian Molko. From this chance meeting, which could have been just an anecdote, it arose a close friendship that led them to form the band Ashtray Heart: the seed that would became Placebo soon after. Besides Placebo, Stef also leads Hotel Persona, a versatile project under the hands of Stefan Olsdal, David Amen and Javier Solo.
